Nithin is an independent philanthropic advisor, educator, social entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for sustainable social change and empowering the next generation. With a wealth of experience, Nithin has been instrumental in guiding individuals and multi-generational families as a trusted philanthropic advisor. His diverse background includes director and advisory roles for various family foundations, enabling him to provide comprehensive support to his clients.
Nithin's expertise lies in facilitating wealth transitions between generations, cultivating strategies to engage the next generation, and promoting equitable grant-making practices. He is committed to reimagining philanthropy and introducing innovative approaches that foster greater equity and inclusivity in the sector.
He is the executive director of Dreams for Schools (DFS), an EdTech organization he founded to advance education equity by bridging gaps in STEAM education with an emphasis on computer science. DFS collaborates with a range of community stakeholders to offer programs that would not otherwise be available to students regionally.
Nithin also co-founded Excelsior Creative, a software development agency based in Orange County that supports non-profits, foundations, and families. He is deeply involved in the nonprofit and helps engage local, regional, and national funder communities. His visionary mindset and deep understanding of social impact enable him to design models and systems that drive lasting transformations. Nithin’s holistic approach ensures that philanthropic efforts not only make an immediate difference but also create long-term, sustainable impact.
Nithin has taken on many philanthropic advisory roles in his career, the most recent being the Sun Family Foundation. He advised the foundation on next generation engagement, foundation operations and setup, defining family mission and vision, family discretionary, and establishing grant-making priorities and processes. He has played a key role in a number of California-based foundations, including the Kay Family Foundation, Tarsadia Family Foundation, and the Marvin & Buzz Oates Charitable Foundation.
His community involvement also extends to a number of philanthropic boards. He is a founding board member and co-chair of Asian American Futures and a member of Orange County Grantmakers. In the past, he held educational board positions at Harbor Day School and UC Irvine Alumni Association.
Nithin is a lover of comedy, a closet chef, and cherishes being outdoors, spending time with friends, and building and creating things. He loves building things, from Legos to organizations to various projects. He co-authored a children’s book, R is for Rice, a rhyming alphabet book on Asian American food, with the goal of inspiring current and future generations of Asian Americans to feel pride in their identity.
