Amy Rodde

Amy is a seasoned philanthropy leader who now advises high-impact foundations with living donors.  She helps donors and foundation/family office leaders build the teams, strategies, and decision-making processes they need to achieve their desired results.

Her clients represent billions of dollars in annual donations and include some of the nation’s largest and most admired private family foundations and collaborative philanthropy funds. She also works with foundation and family office leaders and donors who are early in their philanthropic journey and eager to make a big impact with a lean team.

Before becoming an independent philanthropy advisor, she was the founding President of Valhalla Foundation. Valhalla is the private family foundation of Scott Cook, who is the co-founder of Intuit, and Signe Ostby.  During her tenure, Valhalla committed over $700M to well over 150 grantees.

Before Valhalla, Amy was a partner at The Bridgespan Group where she advised foundation and nonprofit leaders and ultra-high net worth individuals for almost 12 years. She helped more than a dozen clients significantly improve their impact, and more than half of these clients asked for multiple engagements. She led the firm’s recruiting efforts, revamping Bridgespan’s recruiting strategy to hire 60+ talented people each year and was also a member of the Partner Promotion and Hiring Committee.

She started her career at Bain & Company and then went on to work at one of the first venture philanthropy funds, NewSchools Venture Fund, and Education for Change, a charter management organization in Oakland. Amy has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Masters in Education from Stanford University, and a BA magna cum laude from Dartmouth College.
