About AnnieCannons and Temelio
At Temelio, we are privileged to be part of the broader nonprofit community through our work with foundations, and we are frequently given the opportunity to connect directly with the grantees they fund. A year ago, I was connected with AnnieCannons via a long-term advisor and Temelio client.
AnnieCannons is dedicated to training, preparing, and connecting individuals who have experienced human trafficking with sustainable careers in the technology sector. The organization offers a trauma-informed, comprehensive training program that equips survivors with technical skills, professional development, mentorship, and workforce-readiness support to help them secure meaningful employment in tech. By combining technical education with holistic care and employer connections, AnnieCannons empowers survivors to achieve economic stability, break cycles of exploitation, and build long-term careers as engineers and tech professionals.
In late 2025, Temelio was given the opportunity to partner with AnnieCannons by hosting one of their students, Caden, for a 15-week fellowship program on our engineering team. Below you can find a reflection she wrote about her experience.
My Intern Review of Temelio
This fall, I was partnered with Temelio through a nonprofit for a 15-week fellowship. I rarely describe work as truly enjoyable; however, Temelio proved me wrong.
Despite being early in my career, I was warmly welcomed to the engineering team. Everyone there took the time to facilitate my learning, even with full schedules and numerous responsibilities themselves. While the projects I worked on may not have been major changes, no one made me feel as if my contributions were less than. In fact, I think my coworkers were a bit too generous in their praise of my work. My intention is not to be overly flattering, though after four months, I could find very little to complain about.
While grant management isn't a field familiar to me, it's clear after working on their product that the team at Temelio works hard to maintain software that truly streamlines the process of applying for and awarding grants. Their dedication to customers borders on obsessive in the best way. Not only did I never hear complaints about their clients, but the staff at Temelio researches the organizations they serve and take genuine interest in their missions.
If a company told me their motto was "one team, one dream," I'd cringe, yet at Temelio, the commitment comes naturally. In the engineering team, I'd see my coworkers making improvements to the platform at odd hours, seemingly for fun. Temelio gave me the opportunity to visit their office in New York, and I was further impressed with the level of devotion and camaraderie in the workplace. If prospective clients saw what goes on behind the scenes at Temelio, their software would be an obvious choice.
Thank you, Temelio, for investing in me. I was so spoiled to be part of the team!
Why This Matters
Caden’s reflection captures exactly why partnerships like this matter so much. At Temelio, we believe technology can be a force for good when it is built with care, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the people and organizations it serves. Working alongside AnnieCannons and supporting fellows like Caden has been an inspiring reminder of the power of opportunity, mentorship, and community. We are grateful to play even a small role in helping survivors build sustainable careers in tech, and we look forward to continuing to learn from and contribute to the incredible work AnnieCannons is doing.
